Clipfinder 2.5 beta 2 released
Friday, March 26, 2010
I have released a new beta build of Clipfinder 2.5 today.
New features include
Off to a good start - and to NAB
Saturday, March 13, 2010
With my first week in retail now behind me I thought I'd let you know how things are going:
To date I have sent out 53 copies of Clipfinder 2.5.
Orders peaked on Thursday, fueled by posts on REDuser, a very friendly post by Scott Simmons on Studio Daily and a few tweets.
Friday and Saturday were much slower. It looks like we've exhausted the reservoir of early adopters willing to live on the bleeding edge.
I was initially worried that turnaround times in order processing might be too long, as this is currently a manual process. Luckily, I have mostly managed to respond reasonably quickly, occasionally sending download instructions from my iPhone on the train ride to and from my day job.
Even with the discounts granted to those who had made a donation sales have already exceeded the amount donated over the past 18 months.
This helped my decision to go to NAB. I'll be in Vegas from the late evening of the 10th until noon on the 15th and I am looking forward to meeting you there.
Many thanks to all those who have made a purchase, have posted on REDuser, or mailed me their good wishes (and in some cases even extra money). I am grateful for your support and encouragement and will try my best to make it up to you.
Clipfinder 2.5 beta available now
Friday, March 5, 2010
I awoke this morning to find that RED had released a new (beta) version of REDcineX hat includes the first bits of scripting support.
I have spent the day creating a new version of Clipfinder that can send selects from Clipfinder to a REDcineX timeline or bin.
This is only a first cut and will likely need improvement over the coming weeks, but I would like to get it out to you as quickly as possible.
I'm sure you've all been waiting for a workflow that is ROCKET-accelerated (but will also work without a REDRocket) and that takes advantage of the new FLUT color science.

I have not yet included support for RED's new RMD format, because there is a post by Deanan on REDuser discouraging manipulation of the RMD files as long as the format is not yet frozen by RED.
This also marks the beginning of a commercial version of Clipfinder, which many of you have suggested I should offer.
As of March 4, 2010, I have received 59 donations for a total amount of USD 2245.69 (minus PayPal charges). The REDRocket card alone, that I bought solely so that I could support it in Clipfinder, cost twice as much. With new sensors and cameras on the way I figured it was time to listen to my friends and stop bleeding money quite as fast as I have in the past.
For this new version I am asking for USD 100.-
This will count towards the purchase price of the full commercial version of Clipfinder when it becomes available.
The latest version of Clipfinder 2.2 has been updated and will continue to be available free of charge.
2010 is going to be an exciting year for digital cinema. I am thrilled to take part in these developments and will continue to do my best to create tools that make your life easier.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, feel free to mail me.
All the best,
Hans-Georg Daun
